Lecture capture
Currently involved in a JISC fiunded project evaluating lecture capture (
ELTAC).
Coventry uses Echo 360 software (which grew out of
Lectopia) and I'm told that both staff and students like the possibilities, for example, it's especially useful for non-native speakers of English to review the lecture. However, it's also making me wonder why lecture in the first place? I might find a rationale here:
Apart from the pedagogic arguments practical issues also have to be faced:
- being captured means you have to stay very static (in camera shot and so no one else gets captured) and this feels very unnatural to me!
- you have to remember to wear something appropriate i.e. not stripey and to look towards the camera when talking
