Long time no write
So I fell back into bad habits last term and didn't manage to blog after my time out in the States. Came back all fired up to start some sort of
SoTL initiative in-house based on some of the models being talked about at
ISSoTL, but the swamp of day to day stuff and the fact that we've lost our Centre and so community makes it rather challenging ... will have to keep it as a long term aim.
So what am I working on at the moment? Well in my new role as CPD programme manager I'm still working on the in-house PGCert in HE Professional Practice and developing and running various workshops to support colleague development:
- doctoral supervision workshops, take a look at the resources page I put together if you're interested
- masters supervision - I realise there's a commonality of practice, but has to be done separately here
- supporting students with dyslexia workshops (a colleague in our welfare & disabilities unit delivers this - Siobham McNiff) - take a look at these resources some of which were created by colleagues here at Coventry University
- working with international students and staff - take a look at this staff site and this student resource
- and finally I hope to get on to some work about supporting our so called digital natives or millenium generation
At the same time trying to keep my writing up, so just had a paper accepted at the
Academic Identities conference on the challenging life of an academic developer.
